- Four-year framework contract estimated at EUR 7.5 million
- Brownfield and greenfield deployments within six counties in the south-east of Norway
- Kapsch TrafficCom bid achieved maximum points for quality and sustainability initiatives
Vienna, February 11, 2025 – Kapsch TrafficCom has been awarded a framework tolling contract by Vegfinans AS, which is the largest toll charger in Norway in terms of loan financing of road projects.
The company has secured the four-year framework contract estimated at EUR 7.5 million, with the potential to grow to an amount in the low double-digit millions.
The contract will see the deployment of the Autopass MLFF (Multi-Lane Free Flow) tolling system across both brownfield and greenfield sites, meaning that Kapsch TrafficCom will either upgrade existing tolling infrastructure or build new roadside systems along previously untolled roads.
Dan Isak Kveta, Operations Manager at Vegfinans AS, comments: “We look forward to developing a strong collaboration with Kapsch. Together, we will meet new operational requirements and ensure continuous development. We are confident that our new supplier will be a good partner who delivers quality and reliability, which will strengthen our common goal of accurate and secure toll collection.”
The systems will be installed in several of Vegfinans counties Akershus, Buskerud, Innlandet, Telemark, Vestfold and Østfold. The new tolling solutions will span highways and smaller cities, contributing to enhanced transportation efficiency and sustainability across the region.
“We are proud to have been awarded to play a key role in advancing Norway’s tolling infrastructure together with Vegfinans,” says Carolin Treichl, EVP EMENA at Kapsch TrafficCom. “This is a significant step forward for both Kapsch TrafficCom and Vegfinans as we continue our commitment to climate-conscious technology and efficient transportation solutions.”
During the tender process, Kapsch TrafficCom particularly excelled in the areas of climate impact and system quality, reaching full points in those two areas. Out of a total of six bidders, Kapsch TrafficCom distinguished itself by its focus on quality of the offered solution and environmental responsibility, which includes selecting eco-friendly materials, implementing efficient maintenance practices, optimizing delivery methods, and ensuring the repair and recycling of hardware.
