Spanish traffic authority takes fight against speeding seriously
- Kapsch TrafficCom joint venture awarded support and technical assistance contract

Vienna/Madrid, January 23, 2025 – The Spanish federal traffic authority DGT (Dirección General de Tráfico) has entrusted the joint venture with a contract for the support and technical assistance for the management of the automated complaint processing center in the city of Léon. Kapsch TrafficCom holds a 33% stake in the joint venture. So far, the system has processed more than three million fines.

The scope of the contract covers the management of automated complaints based on video surveillance, the provision of general services to citizens, the ongoing development and maintenance (corrective, evolutionary and predictive) of the systems, as well as other support tasks for Provincial Traffic Headquarters and Central Services.
The DGT has more than 400 pieces of hardware along the road network, including speed measurement equipment and video cameras for various use cases. The maintenance of the hardware will be carried out by the joint venture made up of Kapsch TrafficCom and its partners Indra and Worldline.
The order volume amounts to 83 million euros, awarded to the joint venture in which Kapsch TrafficCom holds a stake of 33%. The project runs from March 2024 to the end of 2027.
