Objective
Lead and support Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Emerging Technology projects with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of ITS and emerging technology projects to VDOT; this includes strategic and hands-on management support for the Regional Multi-Modal Mobility Program (RM3P).
- Provide consulting services to state agencies
- Apply ITS knowledge and methodologies in systems engineering, strategic planning, technology assessments, data management, applications oversight, project/program evaluations, benefit-cost analyses, etc.
- Lead and support preparation and review of ITS-related technical documentation, including system requirements, concepts of operations, system designs, test and validation plans, field deployment plans, operations plans, etc.
- Manage project controls, including monitoring project/task progress and performance, and overseeing schedules, budgets, risks, etc.
- Interface with the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) and ensure that VDOT’s technology projects comply with VITA requirements.
- Facilitate client and stakeholder communications and meetings.
- Develop and manage project task orders, including task planning, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and subcontractor activities.
- Identify and cultivate new work opportunities.
Qualifications
- 2-5 years of progressive professional experience delivering ITS engineering services to state and federal transportation agencies.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or similar and FE Certificate
- Demonstrated understanding of current and emerging strategies and technologies, including traffic management, integrated corridor management, multi-modal management, demand management, transportation operations, decision support, modeling/simulation, prediction, and big data.
- Proficiency in analytical and strategic thinking; verbal and written communications; and collaborative leadership.
- PE and/or PTOE license in Virginia and Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or ability to gain certification desirable.
